Roadie 2 Automatic Guitar Tuner

Some two or three years ago, we met the guitar hero that saves you from the painful manual guitar tuning, the Roadie. It’s a motorized peg turner that connects via Bluetooth to your mobile device, which helps in keeping your guitar in tune.

The Roadie 2 can still do the same; however, it ditched the help of mobile devices. Meaning to say, it is a standalone device that can be used out of the box. There is still an app you can download, of course, but that is completely optional. It’s mainly for alternative tunings and more control.

Because mobile devices are no longer required for tuning, the process has then become faster and simpler. You can tune your string instrument in about 20 to 30 seconds.

Another change in the Roadie 2 is the use of vibration instead of a microphone, which is, in fact, a great idea. With microphones, the Roadie may capture sounds from the surroundings. Depending on vibration sensing, however, frees the second-generation device from this error.

Speaking of error, a review compared Roadie 2 with the Pitchblack Poly, a pedal tuner, and the reviewers found the Roadie 2 “to hold its own in the accuracy department when going head to head with the Pitchblack Poly on the pedalboard.”

Additions-wise, the Roadie 2 now has LED light to the front so players can still see even in venues with low or poor lighting. The second generation also makes use of USB type-C to make charging in the dark also easier. String replacement is also faster with its motor speed (for unwinding and winding) of 60 RPM at the most.

The tuner can tune almost all sorts of string instruments–electric, acoustic, classical, and steel guitars, bass guitars, 7 and 12-string guitars, ukuleles, mandolins, banjos, etc.
